This is the second largest city after Tokyo. It functioned as the economic powerhouse in Kansai region for many centuries already. Before it is named Osaka, it is formerly called as Naniwa. Naniwa was the first to known as Japan’s capital city; it was before the Nara Period.
During the 16th century, Osaka was chosen by Toyotomi hideyoshi to build their castle and it supposed to become a political capital in Japan if Tokugawa Ieyasu had not terminated the toyotomi ancestry after hdeyoshi’s death and transferred his government in distant which is Edo(tokyo).
